PUBLIC WORKS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - INTERNAL FOR CURRENT BGEO MEMBERS
PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION
40 Hours Per Week / 2,080 Annual Hours
BGEO Pay Grade 5: $26.72 – $34.12/hour
Position Description
The City of Bowling Green Public Works Department is seeking a dependable, safety-minded and team-oriented Equipment Operator to help maintain City infrastructure and provide essential services to the community.
Equipment Operators perform skilled work involving the operation of commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, tools and specialized Public Works equipment. Duties may include street and right-of-way maintenance, refuse and recycling collection, snow and ice control, tree trimming and storm cleanup, buildings and grounds maintenance, and work at Oak Grove Cemetery. Employees also perform vehicle/equipment inspections and other duties as assigned.
Public Works provides essential services year-round. Work is primarily performed outdoors and may involve temperature extremes, dust, dirt, noise and traffic hazards. Employees must be able to work safely both independently and as part of a team. The position will require overtime and work outside regularly scheduled hours, including weekends, holidays, snow and ice operations, storm response and other emergencies.
The position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and crouching; use of hands and fingers; and the ability to lift up to 80 pounds. Adequate hearing, vision and depth perception are required.
Qualifications
Requires: High school diploma or equivalent; valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker Endorsement; and one (1) to three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience providing the skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
