Math Faculty for Our Brightest Young Learners
Job Description
Brain Power Enrichment Programs is seeking a passionate and inspiring Math educator, skilled in nurturing the intellectual curiosity of bright and talented students, with a specific focus on Grade 2-5. Our mission is to cultivate our students' growth not only as learners but as analytical thinkers and future innovators. We dive deep into the world of mathematics, covering advanced problem-solving, critical mathematical concepts, the beauty of mathematical theories, and their practical applications in the real world.
As an award-winning after-school program renowned for our commitment to academic excellence, Brain Power has been revolutionizing the educational journey for gifted and talented students. Our classes are tailored for bright students (grades 1-12) who are academically advanced and keen to push beyond the confines of traditional education. Classes run two hours per week for 34 weeks.
We are excited to extend an invitation for you to join our team of elite educators. In this role, you will guide small groups of approximately 6-12 students through an established and stimulating curriculum that includes puzzles, tangibles, and core curriculum. Additionally, this position offers a unique opportunity to network and grow alongside other advanced degree holders and experts. This part-time, freelance role is designed to fit evening and weekend schedules, allowing you to impact the lives of our super-smart and inspiring students outside conventional hours.
Why Brain Power?
- Work with the Brightest: Immerse yourself in an intellectually vibrant environment where both teachers and students are challenged. Our students are enthusiastic and ready to learn. Your peers will also be advanced degree holders!
- Innovative Curriculum: Engage with a dynamic curriculum that transcends the standard to include deep mathematical reasoning, the beauty of mathematics, interdisciplinary connections, and practical application of math concepts. All materials provided. For those with specific interests or specialties, we offer an "innovation sandbox" to experiment with new teaching ideas and workshops.
- Small Class Sizes: With an intimate class size of 6-12 students, you have the opportunity to significantly influence each student's academic path.
- Flexibility: Benefit from the flexibility of part-time, freelance work, specifically tailored for evening and weekend schedules.
- Competitive Compensation: Receive a competitive salary of $55.00-$75.00 per hour, reflective of your experience and the transformative educational experiences you bring to our students.
- Professional Development with Peers: Take advantage of our comprehensive training program designed to enhance the teaching skills of those with advanced degrees. Join a community of peers and colleagues with advanced degrees in an exploratory university-like environment!
Ideal Candidate:
- Educational Background: A University Degree is required, with a strong preference for candidates holding an OCT or Teaching Experience with young students.
- Experience: Advanced degree holders in a math related field will receive training to ensure readiness. While teaching certification is preferred for primary-level classes, it is not required.
- Location: Must be able to reliably commute to our Burlington Campus on Mondays from 5pm-9pm.
How to Apply:
If you are passionate about inspiring young minds, fostering a love for mathematics, and contributing to the intellectual growth of future leaders, we encourage you to apply. Join Brain Power on a rewarding journey filled with educational excellence, innovation, and inspiration.
