Role Description The Cook role at Bridges Catering is a full-time, on-site position located in Edmonton, AB. The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and plating menu items according to established recipes, presentation standards, and food safety guidelines. Daily tasks include organizing ingredients, setting up workstations, operating kitchen equipment, and ensuring cleanliness and proper storage of food. The Cook will assist with event catering preparation, including batch cooking, portioning, and packaging food for off-site events. This role also supports inventory control, collaborates closely with other kitchen team members, and maintains a positive, professional attitude in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Strong culinary skills, including basic cooking techniques, knife skills, and familiarity with standardized recipes and catering-style food preparation.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, including proper handling, storage, labeling, and kitchen cleanliness in line with health regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment, with strong organization, attention to detail, and reliability.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with chefs, cooks, and event staff, and follow direction while contributing ideas.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules.
- Previous experience in catering, banquet service, or commercial kitchens is an asset.
- Culinary training or certification from a recognized program is an advantage but not required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that may involve lifting, carrying, and moving supplies and equipment as part of kitchen operations.
