We’re looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our team for a 24-month contract and play an important role in supporting our employees, leaders and business. This is a great opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys variety, building relationships, solving problems and seeing the direct impact of their work.
At Britespan, HR is highly connected to the day-to-day business. You’ll work closely with employees and leaders across the organization while gaining hands-on experience across the full HR spectrum.
What You'll Do
You’ll be involved in a broad range of HR activities, including:
Lead full-cycle recruitment, from job postings and interviews through to offers and employment contracts
Partner with leaders on hiring, onboarding and talent acquisition strategies
Serve as a trusted first point of contact for employees and leaders on HR-related questions and concerns
Support employee relations, performance management, attendance, accommodations and workplace issues
Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures and programs
Support compliance with employment legislation across the jurisdictions in which Britespan operates
Manage employee records and confidential HR information
Coordinate onboarding and help ensure new employees have a positive start
Support training and development initiatives, including mandatory compliance training
Manage WSIB claims, incident reporting and return-to-work processes
Support workplace accommodations and leave-of-absence processes
Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee
Maintain HR systems, attendance records and HR-related reporting
Develop and track HR metrics and KPIs
Contribute to process improvements and HR projects that make our workplace more efficient and employee-focused
Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute to a positive workplace culture
What We're Looking For
You’re someone who is organized, approachable, practical and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You know how to balance employee needs with business requirements and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
Ideally, you bring:
Post-secondary education in Human Resources or a related field
2+ years of HR experience, preferably in a Generalist, Coordinator or Administrator role
Experience with recruitment and talent acquisition
Experience supporting employee relations and conflict resolution
Knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organization and attention to detail
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
A high level of confidentiality and professionalism
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience with HRIS systems and/or Smartsheet is an asset
CHRP designation or working toward CHRP is an asset
