Role Overview
The
Senior Specialist, Learning & Development (Americas) is responsible for the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of learning solutions that enhance employee performance, effectiveness, and organizational capability across the Americas region. This role serves as a trusted learning partner to HR and business leaders, identifying development needs and implementing scalable learning initiatives that align with business priorities.
The Senior Specialist manages the full learning lifecycle, including needs assessment, instructional design, facilitation, program administration, and measurement of learning effectiveness. This role leverages adult learning principles, learning technologies, and project management methodologies to deliver high-impact development experiences that drive employee growth and business results.
Duties & Responsibilities
Learning Strategy, Program Design & Facilitation
- Facilitate instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning experiences for employees, managers, and leaders across the Americas region, including performance management cycle related training such as goal setting, evaluation, IDP etc. along with manager training courses and certificate programs
- In collaboration with Supervisor, Learning and Development, design, develop, and deliver engaging learning programs, certificate programs, and development initiatives using adult learning and instructional design best practices
- Conduct learning needs analyses to identify capability gaps and recommend appropriate development solutions aligned with L&D strategy and offerings
- Create and maintain participant guides, facilitator materials, job aids, e-learning content, and supporting learning resources
- Evaluate learning effectiveness through participant feedback, knowledge assessments, behavioral measures, and business impact metrics
- In collaboration with Supervisor, provide learning consultation and recommendations to HR Business Partners, business leaders, and key stakeholders
- Ensure learning programs align with organizational priorities and talent strategies
- Coordinate and manage learning calendar and logistics
- In collaboration with Supervisor, Learning and Development, partner with external learning vendors, facilitators, and subject matter experts to deliver specialized programs and learning experiences as needed
- Manage assigned program budgets and vendor relationships to ensure quality, effectiveness, and cost efficiency as needed
Learning Initiatives & Project Leadership
- Implement Americas learning and development initiatives
- Contribute to the evolution of the regional learning strategy by identifying opportunities to improve learning experiences, processes, and program effectiveness
- Consult with HR Business Partners and key stakeholders to identify learning priorities, leverage existing solutions, tools or programs and co-create solutions as needed with Learning and Development team that support organizational objectives
- Manage multiple projects as needed, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations are met
- Support communication efforts associated with learning and development initiatives
- Analyze learning data and trends to make recommendations for continuous improvement and future programming
Learning Operations & Administration
- Partner with the Learning & Development team to administer and optimize the Learning Management System (LMS)
- Maintain learning records and program reporting
- Identify opportunities to increase adoption and utilization of learning technologies and self-directed learning resources
Experience & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) Learning & Development, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field
Experience Level
- Minimum 5 years
- Experience in designing, developing, and delivering learning and development programs;
- Experience facilitating classroom, virtual, and hybrid learning programs for diverse audiences
- Minimum 2 years
- Experience partnering with business leaders and HR stakeholders to identify needs and implement development solutions
- Minimum 1 year
- Experience administering or supporting a Learning Management System (LMS);
- Experience working across multiple countries, cultures, or regions within the Americas
- Licenses/Certifications
- PHR/SPHR - Professional/Senior Professional in Human Resources
- Other- Professional certifications in Learning & Development, Adult Learning, Instructional Design, Facilitation, Coaching, Talent Development, or related disciplines
Languages
- Proficient in both written and verbal French and English communication
- Proficiency in both written and verbal English communication is essential for effective correspondence with clients, suppliers, business partners, and colleagues beyond the province of Quebec

- Ability to consult, influence, and build credibility with leaders, HR partners, and stakeholders
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable learning solutions
- High degree of professionalism, executive presence, and business acumen
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
