Role Description
BUILD IT's Preconstruction Services team does something most general contractors don't: we carry a project from design through permitting into construction, all under one roof. We get involved early, while a project is still being designed, and keep a construction budget in mind the whole way - so what gets designed is also what can be built, on budget.
As Project Coordinator, you'll be central to making that promise real. You'll help assemble the right consultant team for each project, keep that team, the schedule, and the paperwork on track, and be a steady point of contact for our clients from concept through a completed tender set.
This is an in-office role, Monday through Friday in Mississauga, working alongside a close-knit, collaborative team. Off-site work is required periodically for project site visits - typically about once a month - so you’ll also get out to see projects firsthand as they take shape.
What you'll do
- Write and issue RFPs to consultants (interior designers, architects, MEP engineers, structural engineers, and more), source competitive quotes, and compare them side by side to support award decisions
- Support contract negotiations and prepare consultant contract documentation
- Read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings well enough to support quote evaluation and day-to-day coordination
- Build and maintain project schedules, flag risks, and keep permit and tender drawings on track
- Run weekly progress meetings, participate in client meetings, and manage follow-ups
- Enter consultant commitments into Procore and reconcile invoices against them
What we're looking for
- A diploma or degree in interior design, architecture, engineering, project management, or a related construction field
- 1–2 years of relevant office experience
- Someone organized, detail-driven, and comfortable juggling multiple consultants and deadlines
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and clear communication
- Comfort with (or willingness to learn) Procore and AI tools
Why BUILD IT
You'll work closely with a hands-on Design Manager who'll get you up to speed, alongside a close-knit team across interior design, architecture, engineering, and construction. Once trained, you'll have real ownership over your projects.
