Student Information System Operator (SISO)

Full-time (12-month) position effective ASAP.
The Student Information System Operator enters and manipulates data using a specialized software program to maintain school and student information, records and a variety of reports. They must be well organized with a high attention to detail and accuracy, able to meet demanding and multiple deadlines and ensure a high level of confidentiality. They also perform a variety of general clerical duties.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Enters, extracts, organizes, analyzes, and manipulates data such as student registrations, demographics, course scheduling, academic progress, attendance and verifies data and other related information for accuracy and completeness.
- Schedules program runs to update files and produce computer generated and ad-hoc reports such as attendance profiles, student's academic progress, class lists and other related reports. Creates and adapts existing reporting templates and customizes them as necessary to meet local requirements.
- Sends parents attendance notifications on a daily basis.
- Provides training/instruction to district staff, parents, and students on Student Information software and technology.
- Arranges for transfer of electronic student records to manage student enrolment/withdrawal at the school and concurrent cross-enrolment with other schools.
- Liaises with the Student Information System Project Manager and Data Manager to ensure Ministry requirements are met.
Successful applicants must have:
- Courses in computer operation or database management applications, including MS Access plus four years related work experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
- Typing speed minimum of 55 wpm net.
- Ability to communicate effectively at the level required for the job.
- Demonstrated ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position.
