About the company
Our client is a privately owned Canadian manufacturer of home textiles with several decades of history and facilities in Canada and the United States. Its products ship across North America to designers, furniture retailers, mass merchants and private label partners.
Over the last few years the company has moved into direct-to-consumer and branded home goods, including a fast-growing new product category and licensed collections with well-known North American lifestyle brands. Revenue is growing at a strong double-digit rate, and the company is investing in new product development.
The business is owner-operated by a hands-on, technically minded leader who uses AI tools daily. The team is small (under 20 people) and runs more like a startup than a legacy manufacturer. The goal is to show that Canadian manufacturing can compete globally through smart use of AI and automation.
The role
This is a commercial ownership role. You will run a portfolio of consumer brands in home textiles, including direct-to-consumer brands and licensed product lines, and be accountable for their growth and profitability.
What you'll own
- Building and executing growth plans across current and new sales channels
- Product development, sourcing, pricing, positioning, merchandising, conversion, retention, inventory and cash
- Tracking net sales, contribution margin, acquisition costs, lifetime value and working capital, and using forecasting and unit economics to drive profitable growth
- Leading contractors and building a small, high-output team as the business scales
- Using the right tools and working with technical specialists to make results measurable and repeatable
Requirements
What we're looking for
- A track record of commercial ownership, with measurable results from launching or growing a brand, product line or business
- Strong quantitative skills, advanced spreadsheet ability, forecasting and sound judgment on contribution margin
- Initiative, clear communication and the ability to execute independently when things are ambiguous
- Comfort with a high-intensity environment, regular work outside standard hours and a very wide range of problems, from operations to brand launches to product R&D
- Strong AI, software, data or integration skills are a big plus. Coding is not required.
- Canadian work authorization (visa sponsorship is not available)
- French is not required
Compensation and benefits
- C$150,000 to C$250,000 base salary
- Performance-based incentive plan in development, with terms confirmed before an offer
- No equity is currently planned
- Up to C$10,000 in relocation support for pre-approved, receipt-backed moving and short-term housing costs
