Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently looking for a motivated individual with excellent organizational and communication skills combined with the ability to prioritize and manage a complex workload to join our team. As an integral member of Wealth Management Services, the role of the Wealth and Estate Planning Specialist is to increase High Net Worth (HNW) client business by working with Canaccord’s Investment Advisors to leverage their time, talents and resources in gathering and maintaining assets of HNW clients. The Wealth and Estate Planning Specialist will actively promote the benefits of building wealth management practice and will be directly responsible for training, opportunity spotting and revenue generation. This position reports to the Head, Managed Account Platform, WEPSL & Insurance.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing comprehensive financial plans utilizing Conquest financial planning software Personalizing each financial plan to provide expert knowledge around issues affecting high net worth and ultra high net worth clients, such as: retirement & cash flow planning, estate planning, tax considerations for holding companies, uses of trusts employee stock options, pension plans, charitable giving, etc.;
- Presenting completed financial plans to advisors and clients in-person or virtually;
- Developing and maintaining relationships with CGWM advisors, serving as a subject matter expert in regards to financial planning;
- Identifying opportunities to deepen client relationships with CGWM such as insurance referrals, externally held assets or other financial needs;
- Working alongside the Wealth and Estate Planning (WEPS) Team and CGWM advisors to provide an exceptional client experience
- Collaborating with the Estate Planning Advisor in WEPS to maximize insurance opportunities
- Partnering with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients to navigate complex tax considerations and customized estate planning opportunities.
- Maintain a high level of partnership and knowledge regarding all of CGWM’s units;
- Generate ideas and participate in the development of projects that will enhance client service and strengthen client relationships with CGWM;
- Simplify complex strategies for advisors to assist with growing CGWM’s wealth management business;
- Increase advisor use and proficiency of Conquest through increased visibility and training.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Financial planning designation (CFP preferred);
- CPA with an accounting background considered an asset;
- LLQP licensed is required;
- Extensive experience with planning software: Conquest preferred;
- 10+ years of relevant experience in all aspects of financial planning; complex financial planning experience is essential;
- Strong presentation skills;
- Highly engaged and passionate about educating clients and advisors
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently to complete tasks;
- Effective communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Other tax planning designations considered an asset.
