About The Opportunity
Reporting to VP, Risk Modelling, Analytics and Reporting, the ideal candidate will develop, maintain, and help implement effective quantitative models and analytics that will help guide prudent growth for Canada Guaranty’s mortgage insurance portfolio.
Responsible for developing, championing, and maintaining credit scoring, underwriting and portfolio management credit risk, fraud, stress testing, and loss management/collections models.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and maintain an industry leading adjudication model to support the risk adjudication strategy.
- Build and maintain IFRS 17, capital, and stress testing models to support the actuary team.
- Evaluate credit bureau scores and attributes, other internal and external credit-related data sources, and identify opportunities to enhance the adjudication model and strategy, and internal management.
- Effectively communicate findings and insights to Executives and senior management in a concise and easy-to-understand way.
- Execute special projects and perform other duties as required.
Essential Qualifications
- Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline i.e. applied mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, operations research or engineering.
- 4+ year risk management experience in banking or insurance industries.
- 2+ year working experience in predictive/consumer/financial modelling.
- Extensive experience using and developing quantitative models with SAS and SQL is a must, experience with Python, R, or other similar software considered a plus.
- Proven track record extracting, preparing, and analyzing large data sets in an academic or business setting.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within collaborative teams.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work accurately under deadlines.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and strong business acumen, with effective communication skills and comfort presenting to an Executive audience.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD degree in a quantitative discipline.
- Previous experience with credit bureau scores and attributes strongly preferred.
- Previous experience with fraud management and/or model development.
- Experience in AI and machine learning.

The salary range for this position ranges from $100,000 to $130,000. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, along with internal equity.
