We are built on a foundation of Courage, Curiosity, Compassion and Humility. And the truth is… we love what we do! Bringing communities together is a powerful thing, and we are proud of the impact we make in the lives of our customers.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a driven Business Account Manager who enjoys being in the market, meeting business owners and creating new opportunities. This is a field-focused, quota-carrying sales role for someone who is energized by prospecting, comfortable owning a territory and motivated by measurable results.
As an Account Manager, you will own business development within an assigned Alberta territory. Your primary focus will be acquiring new customers while also identifying opportunities to grow relationships with existing customers. You will operate as a trusted business technology advisor, understanding each customer's needs and recommending the right combination of fiber Internet, managed Wi-Fi, network security, cellular failover, voice, static IPs and other customized connectivity solutions.
What you will be doing:
Territory Ownership & New Business Development: Own an assigned territory and develop a clear plan to grow CFOC/NLF's Business market share. Prospect for new business every day through in-person visits, phone, email, referrals, networking and community activity.
Pipeline & Sales Cycle Management: Build and maintain a qualified sales pipeline and manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting and qualification through discovery, proposal, negotiation, close and internal handoff.
Consultative Selling: Engage business owners and decision-makers to understand operational, connectivity and technology requirements, then develop solutions tailored to their business.
Customer Growth: Build long-term customer relationships while identifying upgrade, cross-sell and additional-location opportunities within the existing customer base.
Sales Performance: Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets while maintaining strong pipeline coverage and forecast accuracy.
CRM & Reporting Discipline: Maintain accurate and timely customer, activity, opportunity, next-step and forecast information in HubSpot. Submit required weekly sales activity and funnel updates on time.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales Engineering, Operations, Provisioning, CARE and other internal teams to provide a strong customer experience and ensure commitments are clearly communicated.
Community & Market Presence: Represent CFOC and Northern Lights Fiber professionally at local business events, chambers, networking opportunities and community initiatives.
Competitive Awareness: Stay current on competitor offerings, local market conditions and technology trends within the assigned territory.
- Professional Accountability: Take ownership of commitments made to customers, communicate proactively and consistently represent CFOC/NLF with professionalism
What we are looking for:
- 2+ years of B2B sales, outside sales, territory sales or account management experience.
Experience prospecting and closing new business in a quota-carrying role.
Experience using HubSpot, Salesforce or another CRM platform.
Telecommunications, technology, SaaS, managed services or related sales experience is an asset.
Existing relationships or knowledge of Alberta business communities is an asset.
Post-secondary education in business, sales, marketing or a related field is an asset; equivalent experience will also be considered.
- A hunter mentality, you enjoy creating opportunities rather than waiting for leads.
- Strong communication, discovery, presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence engaging business owners, managers and technical decision-makers.
- Resilience, accountability and the ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
- Strong organization and time-management skills with the discipline to manage a territory and sales funnel.
- Curiosity about technology and the ability to translate technical capabilities into practical business outcomes.
- Coachability and a desire to continuously improve.
- A professional, customer-first approach and a reputation for following through on commitments.
- Must have a valid driver's licence and willingness to travel within the assigned territory.
Work Environment:
Field-based territory ownership with regular in-person customer engagement.
A blend of autonomous selling, office collaboration and virtual work based on business needs.
Regular travel within assigned communities and occasional travel elsewhere in Alberta.
Collaboration with a growing team across Sales, Product, Engineering, Operations and Customer Care.
What this role offers:
At CFOC and Northern Lights Fiber, our size gives Account Managers the opportunity to make a visible impact, work closely with decision-makers and help shape how we grow our business markets. We value people who are curious, accountable, collaborative and committed to delivering on what they promise.
Competitive base salary plus performance-based sales compensation.
Opportunity to build and own a territory and directly influence market growth.
Access to fiber and managed technology solutions designed for Alberta businesses.
Support from Sales Engineering, Operations, Provisioning and customer-facing teams.
Professional development and opportunity to grow as the business expands.
A collaborative environment grounded in Courage, Curiosity, Compassion and Humility.
If you are competitive without losing sight of the customer, enjoy creating your own opportunities and take pride in helping Alberta businesses make smarter technology decisions, we would like to hear from you.
What we offer:
Our priority is our employees. The “work-hard-play-hard" isn’t just a saying for us - we are agile, passionate and energetic. We check our egos at the door, roll up our sleeves, move fast, get things done and support each other. Our leaders inspire the team, truly welcoming all members to be open, honest and provide feedback without fear of judgement. We want the curious, the champions and the collaborators.
We are consistently working to provide a safe work environment, competitive wages – including strong commission-based compensation, and many opportunities to learn and grow. If you commit to delivering results and make a difference, we look forward to hearing from you.
