Position Summary
The Charter Specialist, Security maintains the safety and security of charter passengers, crew, and aircraft through effective screening and compliance practices. This role performs passenger and baggage security screening in accordance with regulatory and company requirements, while ensuring adherence to company Safety Management System (SMS) policies, procedures, and reporting requirements. The position also completes security reports, incident documentation, and associated administrative duties as required, and coordinates flight processing, documentation, and operational communications to ensure seamless charter operations.
Candidates must hold a valid Alberta Basic Security Training (ABST) Certificate at the time of application. This certification is a regulatory requirement for security personnel who interact with passengers and/or conduct baggage screening.
This is a casual position with no guaranteed hours and is being posted to establish a qualified applicant pool for future opportunities. There are currently no vacancies available. What You'll Do
- Conduct passenger and baggage security screening in strict compliance with regulatory requirements, company procedures, and client-specific security protocols.
- Protect the safety and security of passengers, crew, aircraft, and facilities by maintaining continuous vigilance and actively monitoring passenger behaviour throughout the screening process.
- Identify, assess, and respond to potential security risks, including conducting physical bag searches and managing restricted or prohibited items in accordance with established procedures.
- Escalate unusual findings, suspicious activity, or security incidents through defined reporting and escalation channels, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Exercise sound judgment and discretion when interpreting and enforcing screening standards, including denying boarding for reasonable cause in accordance with approved procedures.
- Complete detailed security reports, incident documentation, and required compliance records accurately and within established timelines.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), aviation security regulations, and the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS), contributing to ongoing regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
- Assist with passenger check-in, boarding, and deplaning as required, maintaining a professional and security-focused presence as a front-line representative of Canadian North.
- Coordinate required flight documentation and communicate effectively with charter staff and supervisors to support secure and efficient charter operations.
- Maintain situational awareness, utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE), and contribute to a safe, controlled, and compliant working environment.
- Adapt to irregular operations, including weather or maintenance disruptions and fluctuating passenger volumes, while maintaining security standards at all times.

What You'll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent required; aviation, travel, or security-related post-secondary education considered an asset.
- Completion of required aviation security training and screening certification in accordance with applicable licensing requirements; willingness to complete recurrent aviation security and SMS training.
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience, preferably in aviation security, airport operations, charter operations, or customer service environments.
- Working knowledge of aviation security procedures, screening protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and reporting requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and confidently with passengers, charter clients, supervisors, and colleagues.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply defined procedures and make appropriate decisions within established guidelines.
- High level of attention to detail, vigilance, and ability to maintain focus during repetitive screening tasks.
- Ability to work effectively under time pressures and manage passenger flow during peak periods
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift and move baggage as required, and meet the physical demands of an airport security environment.
- Ability to communicate in Inuktut a definite asset
- Ability to obtain and retain a Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada
Potential Hours of Work:
- 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., Monday to Thursday
- 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Thursday
- Split shifts may be scheduled
