Job Purpose
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Technology Operation and a part of the TOMS (Technical Operations Management and Support) team, the IT Operations Support Engineer ensures the continual operation of CanDeal’s IT infrastructure (on-prem and cloud), services, applications, and processes while ensuring we meet all compliance and policy requirements. This role also provides second-tier support for any technical issues escalated from the COPS (Client Operation and Support) team and assisting the ETS (Enterprise Technical Services) team with new projects and deliveries when needed.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor, resolve, and escalate security and operational incidents as needed.
- Administration and maintenance of network, hardware, software, servers, systems, etc.
- Performs regular patching of all systems and ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance at all times.
- Work with third party vendors, support, account managers, network engineers, and specialists to resolve issues that are beyond the internal team’s expertise.
- Support external customers with inhouse CanDeal applications, services, networks, and products.
- Lead and assist with BCP/DR planning, tests, documentation, and remediation.
- Contributes to continuous improvement efforts by automating, scripting/coding, recommending new products, services, technologies, and methodologies as well as new processes/procedures.
- Proactively check and review systems, logs, alerts, notices, advisories, and investigate suspicious events.
- Ensure adherence to IT related and corporate policies and procedures.
- Create/update documentation and provide evidence/documentation to support audits, surveys, and risk/compliance.
- Vendor management and purchasing, budgeting, licensing, and renewals of contacts and maintenance agreements.
- Communicate, monitor, review, and assist with Change Management submissions, meetings, polices and processes.
- Performs other duties, as required.

Technical Requirements
- Basic Networking (TCP/IP, OSI Layers, Subnets, Routing, Protocols, etc.)
- Basic Windows (AD/GPO, Permissions, File Systems, CLI commands, Monitoring, Logs, etc.)
- Basic Linux (Permissions, File Systems, CLI commands, Monitoring, Logs, etc.)
- Basic Security (Zero Trust, Hardening, Authorization, Authentication (MFA), PKI/Certificates, etc.)
- Basic VMware (VMs, ESXi, vSphere, vSAN, vCenter, VCF, etc.)
- Basic Hardware (RAID, Partitions, SAN, NAS, Out-of-band management, etc.)
- Basic Scripting (PowerShell, Bash, VBA, Batch, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proven technology troubleshooting skills and superb analytical skills, with the ability to think “outside the box” to resolve problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively clarify complex technical issues and concepts in a business-friendly manner to various audiences.
- Strong organizational skills, with the abilities to manage multiple deliverables in a demanding, time-sensitive environment, adapt to frequently changing priorities by prioritizing tasks and escalate / communicate issues or seek assistance to overcome obstacles.
- Ability to work effectively within a team, as well as independently.
- Must be available for after-hours implementations, testing, and support in a 24x7 technical business environment.
- Working knowledge of the following is an asset: administering/troubleshooting of production desktops/servers; virtualization; cloud; office applications; MDM; ticketing systems; infrastructure monitoring; replication; patching; MFA; and various hardware and networking technologies.

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, technology or related field is required.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience working in IT related projects and controls and processes, preferably in the financial services industry.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA A+ certification is desirable/preferred.
- Cloud (AWS/Azure) certifications are desirable/preferred.
