Canoe Forest Products is expanding its accounting team in Salmon Arm, BC, with a brand-new Junior Accountant position. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate to gain hands-on experience across a range of accounting and financial reporting activities, including month-end processes, reconciliations, budgeting, financial analysis, and year-end support, while working closely with both accounting and operational teams to build a strong foundation for a career in accounting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Support the preparation of monthly financial reports and investigate variances or unusual items.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other financial analysis.
- Maintain accounting schedules, including fixed assets and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with annual audit and year-end information requests.
- Support accounting controls, documentation, and process improvements.
- Work with accounting and operational teams on financial information, analysis, special projects, and other ad hoc requests.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Interest in pursuing a CPA designation is an asset. The Company will support ongoing professional development through the CPA PEP program.
- Previous accounting experience through a co-op, internship, summer position, or other employment is an asset, but not required.
- Experience with an ERP or accounting system is an asset, but not required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
SALARY RANGE: We offer a competitive compensation package based on your skills and experience. The expected base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $75,000 per year.
