Cape Breton University (CBU) is seeking an organized, collaborative, and highly motivated professional to join its Athletics Department as a Full-Time Limited-Term Coordinator, Special Projects. This approximately 18-month position plays a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of special projects, events, and initiatives within the Athletics Department.
As a key member of the department, the Special Projects Coordinator will serve as a primary point of contact and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate activities, provide administrative support, and oversee day-to-day project and event requirements.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and coordinate Athletics special events, student-athlete recognition programs, tournaments, fundraising initiatives, camps, and game-day experiences.
- Build relationships and engagement with University departments, community partners, student groups, and external organizations to support Athletics events, promotions, and initiatives.
- Support departmental operations and priorities including risk management, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), marketing initiatives, and the planning and execution of special projects.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Department of Athletics & Recreation, including communications, scheduling, document preparation, records management, office operations, and confidential student information.
- Coordinate Athletics logistics and travel, including team transportation and accommodations, itineraries, travel documentation, scheduling changes, and related administrative requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-Secondary diploma in a recognized field. Undergraduate degree is an asset;
- Candidates with an undergraduate degree combined with appropriate experience will be considered;
- Exceptional oral and written communications; friendly, helpful, professional.
- Strong time management skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines;
- Knowledge and interest in university sport and community recreation development;
- Understanding of all aspects of risk management with respect to health and safety.
- Excellent computer, internet, and information technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new technology tools quickly.
