Role Description This full-time, on-site Security System Technician role is based in the GTA area. The technician installs, configures, tests, and maintains security and fire alarm systems, including control panels, detectors, CCTV, enterphone and access control devices. Responsibilities include performing scheduled inspections, troubleshooting system issues, completing repairs, and documenting all work in service reports. The role involves reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications, ensuring compliance with local codes and company standards, and coordinating with project managers and clients regarding timelines and system performance. The technician supports system upgrades, provides basic user training to clients, and follows all health and safety procedures while working at customer sites.
Qualifications
- Technical skills in installing, configuring, and servicing security, fire alarm, CCTV, enterphone and access control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals; basic knowledge of electrical and low-voltage systems.
- Experience with fault-finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting using appropriate tools and test equipment.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills, including accurate completion of service reports and maintenance records.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain system functions and provide user guidance on-site.
- Capacity to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in field environments.
- Understanding of applicable safety standards, building codes, and best practices related to security and fire systems.

- Relevant technical diploma, trade certification, or equivalent experience in security systems, electronics, or a related field.
- Previous experience in security or fire protection industries is an asset; manufacturer-specific certifications are considered beneficial.
