About Us:
We are a straight-to-the-point, independent logistics team based in a small Richmond, BC office. Operating as Cargo Spectrum, we are an established global freight forwarder that has been in the business for 22 years (since 2004). We maintain a relaxed, down-to-earth office environment where our operations staff handle complete files from A to Z and directly impact our success. If you are a seasoned logistics professional with solid Canadian freight forwarding / logistics experience looking to escape the corporate grind and manage a desk with true independence, we want to hear from you.
The Role:
We are seeking a highly capable Freight Operations Specialist who can step in to manage this hands-on operations role and handle international and domestic shipments from start to finish. Because we are a small team, you won't be micro-managed. You will oversee the complete lifecycle of your shipments and have true ownership over your files.
Heads up: This is an experienced position, not an entry-level job or a role for recent graduates. You must already have at least 4 years of recent Canadian freight forwarding / logistics experience.
Required Experience & Qualifications (Strictly Enforced):
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of recent, hands-on Canadian freight forwarding/logistics operations experience.
- Autonomy: Ability to step into a busy operations environment, work independently, manage multiple shipments and priorities, and provide excellent service to our customers.
- Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of international air/ocean freight, domestic logistics, carriers, routing, CBSA / eManifest compliance, and Canada Customs.
- Tech Savvy: Strong familiarity with standard cargo management systems, various airline and steamship line online portals, CBSA eManifest portal, and Microsoft Office.
- Logistics & Travel: Valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for regular, local trips to Canada Customs and airline warehouses at YVR.
- Fit: A reliable, practical professional who prefers a small-office environment over a giant corporate floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, optimize, and track complex domestic and international freight movements.
- Manage documentation, carrier bookings, customs coordination, and customer updates from pickup to final delivery.
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve operational delays, tracking discrepancies, or routing issues.
- Maintain strong, direct relationships with customers, trucking companies, airlines, steamship lines, customs brokers, and overseas agents.
Why Join a Small Team?
- True Autonomy: Run your desk your way. No corporate politics or layers of micro-management. You report directly to ownership.
- Engaging Work: Manage full files from start to finish, giving you a diverse and practical workday.
- Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a stable, friendly, supportive environment where your extensive experience is highly valued and respected.
- Flexibility: Choose your own shift within our 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM office hours to beat the traffic or accommodate personal commitments.
