Job Description
Job Summary:
This position is a unionized role within our production team. As a Slitter Operator, you will be required to learn, understand, and put into practice all of our policies and procedures to help manufacture the highest quality products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will routinely perform your duties with minimal supervision, independently and in a team with another operator/Slitter. You must be able to work in an environment with distractions, maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety, while performing your duties. No travel is required for this position.
- Expected hours of work is Monday – Sunday; 7:00 am – 7:00 pm& 7:00 pm – 7:00 am.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate slitting/packaging cell to cut, package and label various rolled roofing products.
- Provide support to maintenance team members to help troubleshoot machine issues and make improvements (optimization) within the department.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency in achieving results.
- Perform daily walks around your work area to ensure guards and safety devices are in place.
- Perform checks on safety equipment and record results as part of an ongoing safety program
- Perform checks to validate the acceptability of product packaging and product counts
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail
- Working knowledge of safety standards WHMIS
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to work independently without supervision and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to uphold confidentiality
- Ability to work overtime to meet customer requirements
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Team Leader
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma required or equivalent.
- Two to Three Years of Manufacturing experience
- Experience working with manufacturing machines is an asset
