Job Description
Catalyst Health Solutions is a progressive healthcare company providing private nursing and medical support services throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and across Canada. We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our growing team.
Job Purpose
The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive health assessment and care to patients and their families. Working independently and within a multidisciplinary team, the Nurse Practitioner diagnoses conditions, prescribes medications, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, evaluates treatments, and provides follow-up care within their scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive health assessments, including health histories and physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and communicate laboratory and diagnostic test results.
- Diagnose medical conditions and initiate, adjust, and monitor treatment plans.
- Prescribe and administer medications within scope of practice.
- Provide patient education, counselling, health promotion, and disease prevention services.
- Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
- Make referrals to specialists and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members involved in patient care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, incident reviews, and case reviews.
- Support students, RN Prescribers, and new Nurse Practitioners through mentorship and preceptorship opportunities.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and KPI data collection activities.
Qualifications
- Completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program.
- Current registration in good standing with the appropriate regulatory college.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in primary healthcare or family practice.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and BLS certification. ACLS is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Primarily day shifts based on a 40-hour work week, with occasional evenings and weekends as required.
- This is an in-clinic position providing direct patient care in a primary healthcare setting.
- Scheduling flexibility required to meet patient and program needs.
- Fast-paced healthcare environment with occasional urgent situations.
- Occasional travel to off-site locations may be required.
