Occupational Therapist – Community based - Edmonton, Alberta.
This valued Occupational Therapist will have an opportunity to practice within a large scope through collaboration and teamwork, responsible for evaluating and supporting the clients in a holistic manner to achieve optimal quality of life. Day to day activities vary from serving clients in the community, networking and collaborating within the larger health care community and with the funder, completing reports, and solving problems/overcoming barriers to achieving the Care Goals. As part of CBI Health’s Community Rehabilitation Services (CRS) team in Alberta, you will have the opportunity to work in a growing community-based service line, initially supporting clients through WCB Alberta referrals and expanding into motor vehicle rehabilitation as Alberta’s new Care First auto insurance model comes into effect in January 2027. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and grow community OT services in Alberta while supporting clients through meaningful, goal-focused rehabilitation!
We are seeking a self-starter that is able and excited to work within urban and rural areas and has a proven ability to deliver excellence in outcomes and relationship building. This opportunity is well suited to candidates that can work independently at times, but also see the value in collaborating with many other professionals and teams to achieve the optimal outcome for the client. You will work across Edmonton and surrounding communities, with the opportunity to see the whole person in the environments where they live, work and participate!

Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day
- Work individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent client outcomes
- Provide assessment and treatment to a wide variety of clients with varying needs, including those with complex needs
- Provide impartial home, safety/personal care assessments, ergonomic assessments, adaptive equipment / home modification assessments, and client education, and work/school-based assessment/treatment
- Coordinate the care with the client, family, CBI Health Care Team, funder and involved health care providers
- Perform regular, timely charting, reporting and communication
- Record workload measurement data
- Attend staff meetings and case conference meetings, as required
- Complete WCB OT assessments such as personal care assessments, home maintenance and housekeeping assessments, ergonomic assessments, functional assessments, home safety assessments, equipment/adaptive equipment assessments, home modification, and other clinically appropriate community-based assessments.
- Support clients in establishing and working toward meaningful functional goals in their homes, workplaces and community environments, using individualized treatment plans and clinical reasoning to promote independence, participation and return to function.
- Build relationships with WCB case managers, employers, health care providers and other community partners to coordinate care and support client goals.
- As the Care First model launches in January 2027, have the opportunity to support the expansion of CBI Health’s MVA Rehab services in Alberta, including community-based assessment and treatment as the program develops.
Here’s what you’ll need to be successful
- You are a graduate of a recognized School of Occupational Therapy
- You are a registered member in good standing with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists
- You are passionate about your profession and committed to ongoing professional development
- Hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle with a willingness to travel to rural sites
- New Graduates are welcome to apply
- Strong organizational, critical thinking, decision-making and communication skills, with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with clients, families, funders and other professionals.
