Cedar Coast Capital Corporation has a permanent, full-time opportunity for an experienced financial accountant who is passionate about numbers and wants to join a fast paced, growing entrepreneurial company.
Cedar Coast is a real estate development and investment company with a portfolio of 19 active projects in British Columbia, Oregon, North Dakota, and Washington State. These projects include single family neighbourhoods, apartment complexes and industrial buildings.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the month-end full cycle accounting duties by completing month end journal entries and maintaining reconciliations;
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries;
- Supports financial decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, investigating and reporting financial data;
- Process and prepare the consolidated monthly financial package;
- Prepare budgets and provide monthly variance analysis and forecasts;
- Maintain financial models on a monthly basis and update projections and forecasts where required;
- Reconcile all banking transactions and inter-company accounts with related parties and subsidiaries;
- Manage tax payments and tax filings for the company and its investors;
- Calculate and remit monthly distributions and interest payments to various stakeholders;
- Identify and implement process improvements for existing day-to-day accounting, month-end close process and reconciliations;
- Ensures all financial deadlines are met in an accurate and timely manner;
- Responds to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing, and interpreting data;
- Supports special projects/initiatives and ad-hoc reporting/analysis as required by the business.
Successful Candidate Profile
Candidates who possess the following attributes and interests will find success in the hiring process and fulfilment as part of our team:
- CPA designation with a minimum of two to five years’ post qualification experience;
- Full cycle accounting experience including production of financial statements;
- Strong technical accounting abilities and analytical skills, inquisitive by nature;
- Ability to work independently and to complete projects with minimal oversight;
- Team player with a willingness to assist in other roles at peak periods;
- Meticulous attention to detail and disciplined with priorities and time management;
- Exceptional ability with numbers and strong proof-reading skills;
- Ability to quickly grasp the support needs of a variety of distinct business activities and apply critical thinking and creative problem solving skills to improve processes;
- Personable, effective, and collaborative as a team player with a sustained positive attitude;
- Professional in demeanor, and written and oral communications;
- Demonstrated capacity to work well under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Proactive, solution oriented, driven;
- Courteous and comfortable dealing with both internal and external parties;
- A high level of proficiency with Quickbooks Enterprise, Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, Google Apps
