Celerity Craft, based in Squamish, British Columbia, is developing a groundbreaking marine vessel using ground effect technology that outperforms traditional ships and boats in speed, comfort, and energy efficiency. The company was founded to reduce or eliminate CO2 emissions in marine transportation. The company is currently pre-revenue, but plans to roll out its first product over the next 18 months, and grow to significant revenue over the next 5 years.
About the Role
Celerity is seeking a highly organized, hands-on accounting professional to manage its day-to-day accounting and keep its financial information accurate, current, and ready for management, grant reporting, and fundraising.
This role includes full-cycle accounting with budgeting, weekly cash flow reporting, grant administration, and management of corporate and investor records. You will work closely with the CEO, the finance team, and occasionally with external accountants.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in QuickBooks, properly reviewed, and reconciled with supporting documentation.
- Maintain the general ledger and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Prepare monthly trial balances, financial statements, and supporting schedules for management and external accountant review, and support year-end accounting and corporate tax filings.
- Prepare a weekly cash flow report and rolling cash forecast, including expected receipts, payments, and funding needs.
- Build and maintain budgets, track actual results against budget, and explain material variances.
- Track grant budgets, eligible costs, supporting records, reporting deadlines, and claims. Prepare financial information for grant reports.
- Maintain accurate corporate finance records, including the capitalization table, financing documents, and a register of material contracts.
- Keep the fundraising data room organized and up to date, with current financial statements, budgets, corporate records, and other approved materials.
- Prepare GST filings and supporting reconciliations.
- Maintain records needed for SR&ED claims and coordinate financial information with technical staff and external SR&ED advisors or accountants.
- Improve financial processes, filing systems, and reporting as the company grows.
Qualifications
- Approximately 5–10 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, including hands-on responsibility for month-end reporting.
- Strong bookkeeping and financial statement preparation skills.
- Experience with budgets, cash flow forecasts, and GST filings.
- Experience preparing or supporting SR&ED claims.
- Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to follow through on recurring deadlines.
- Strong spreadsheet skills.
- Clear communication.
- Sound judgment when handling confidential information.
- Experience with grant reporting, Carta, capitalization tables, or fundraising data rooms is an asset.
- Ideally would be familiar with QuickBooks, Tracking Time, Float and CARTA.
- A CPA designation is welcome but is not required.
Salary & Benefits
Salary will depend on experience and qualifications, from $60,000-70,000 at the junior level to $90,000-100,000 for a person with a proven track record and significant experience.
Benefits are included in the package, and stock options can be expected after completing a probationary period.
