Position Summary
The Site HSE Advisor is a site-based member of the Jansen JS2 project team. The role provides hands-on HSE and training support to project supervision and the workforce, working under the direction of the Project HSE Manager and in close coordination with the project management team. The position is based at the Jansen site on a 14/14 rotation.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
HSE Program & Field Support
Provide day-to-day technical and administrative HSE support to the Jansen project team, prioritizing workload based on project needs and direction from the Project HSE Manager.
Carry out and support workplace inspections, safety walks, critical control verifications and toolbox talks alongside project supervision.
Identify and document hazards, non-compliances and at-risk conditions observed in the field, and escalate findings to the Project HSE Manager and area supervision for corrective action.
Assist with the administration and continuous improvement of the Cementation CSMS and the Jansen project-specific HSE management plan, including the fatigue management program and the project High Risk Mitigation Plan.
Promote and model safe work practices, acting as a visible and approachable safety resource for all project personnel.
Incident & Investigation Support
Support injury, incident and near-miss investigations on the project, including evidence gathering, witness statements and root-cause analysis, under the direction of the Project HSE Manager.
Assist with the preparation of incident reports and notifications, and ensure they are timely, accurate and aligned with The Saskatchewan Employment Act, The Mines Regulations, 2018, client (BHP) reporting requirements and internal reporting timelines.
Track corrective and preventive actions arising from investigations through to close-out in the project action tracker, and support trend analysis for the project.
Training & Competency Support
Coordinate the scheduling, tracking and record-keeping of statutory, client-required and site-specific training and certifications for project personnel, in coordination with the Cementation Training department.
Support onboarding and orientation for new hires and subcontractors arriving at the Jansen site, ensuring Cementation and BHP site access requirements are met prior to mobilization.
Help identify training gaps arising from incident trends on the project, and feed these back into the project training plan.
Compliance, Documentation & Reporting
Work in full compliance with The Saskatchewan Employment Act, The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020, The Mines Regulations, 2018 and all other applicable health, safety and environmental legislation, as well as BHP Jansen site requirements.
Maintain accurate, organized project HSE records in support of internal and client audits, Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety inspections, and corporate reporting requirements.
Prepare project HSE reporting packages, dashboards, statistics and presentation materials for project leadership, the client and corporate HSET.
Assist with the review and update of project HSE procedures and forms to reflect current legislation, client requirements and industry best practice.
Team & Stakeholder Support
Work in full compliance with The Saskatchewan Employment Act, The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020, The Mines Regulations, 2018 and all other applicable health, safety and environmental legislation, as well as BHP Jansen site requirements.
Maintain accurate, organized project HSE records in support of internal and client audits, Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety inspections, and corporate reporting requirements.

Travel Requirements
This position is site-based at BHP Jansen, Saskatchewan, on a 14/14 rotation with camp accommodation provided.
The role involves regular underground work and periodic travel to other Cementation sites or offices as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct reports. Provides HSE and training support across the Jansen project team.
Reports to the Project HSE Manager, with functional support from the corporate HSET department.
Required
Education and Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in a field-based industrial, construction or mining environment.
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
Working knowledge of The Saskatchewan Employment Act, The Mines Regulations, 2018, The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020, and workplace violence and harassment prevention requirements.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and experience with digital HSE management software.
Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record, and the ability to meet BHP Jansen site access, medical, drug and alcohol, and fit-testing requirements.
Ability to work a 14/14 rotation at a remote camp-based site.
Preferred/Considered a Strong Asset
