Job Purpose
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Fish Processor is responsible for the processing, preparation, packaging, and quality control of seafood products. This role supports daily production activities by ensuring products are processed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with food safety, sanitation, and quality standards. The Fish Processor plays an important role in maintaining operational excellence while contributing to a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
Essential Functions
- Package fresh and frozen seafood products according to company specifications and customer requirements.
- Cut, trim, prepare, and process seafood products using fillet knives and other processing equipment.
- Conduct quality control and quality assurance checks on products to ensure consistency, freshness, and compliance with company standards.
- Assist with product handling, weighing, labeling, and preparation activities within the seafood processing area.
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance procedures.
- Ensure adherence to company Health and Safety programs, policies, and initiatives.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to seafood processing, product handling, sanitation, and workplace safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment at all times.
- Properly operate, clean, and maintain processing equipment and tools.
- Support inventory rotation practices, including adherence to First-In-First-Out (FIFO) procedures where applicable.
- Champion and comply with the Company's Code of Conduct, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training related to food safety, quality assurance, and production processes.
- Assist team members and contribute to achieving daily production targets.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education, Experience)
- Experience using fillet knives, seafood processing equipment, or working within a food production environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and quality standards is an asset.
- Previous experience in seafood processing, food manufacturing, or a related industry is preferred but not required.
- Training will be provided.
- Willingness to work with raw seafood and meat products.
- Willingness to work in cold temperature environments.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move objects weighing 30+ pounds.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform repetitive tasks and prolonged periods of standing, lifting, bending, and manual labor.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of maintaining consistent attendance.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety standards and safe work practices.
