Role Description The Engineer, Electrical Projects (Mount Milligan) is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, supporting electrical engineering activities for the Mount Milligan operation. This position is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing electrical projects related to power distribution, plant systems, and site infrastructure. Day-to-day tasks include developing and reviewing electrical drawings and specifications, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. The engineer will monitor project progress, troubleshoot electrical issues, perform technical analyses, and recommend improvements to reliability and energy efficiency. The role also involves preparing technical reports, supporting capital project evaluations, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the site’s electrical systems.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong electrical engineering skills, including Electrical Engineering and fundamental knowledge of Electricity.
- Candidates should possess applied design capabilities, including Electrical Design for industrial and mining environments.
- Candidates should possess expertise in electrical power infrastructure, including Power Systems and Power Distribution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; eligibility for professional engineering registration (P.Eng. or equivalent) is an asset.
- Experience with industrial or mining projects, including high-voltage systems, motor control centers, and process plant electrical equipment.
- Familiarity with relevant Canadian electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Proficiency with electrical design and analysis software, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects.
- Willingness to periodically travel to site locations as required to support project planning, execution, and commissioning.
