Being an architect means designing, analyzing, and evaluating architectural projects that provide the school service center with functional, safe, and suitable school environments for the needs of students and staff. On a daily basis, you carry out your duties in accordance with the Architects Act and perform planning, design, development, research, and control functions related to buildings, land, and facilities. You act as a resource person in architecture, ensuring the quality of arrangements, compliance with standards, and the creation of sustainable, accessible, and stimulating learning environments.

The project manager will evolve within the team of the material resources service and participate in the planning and execution of various renovation projects in certain buildings of the CSSMB. This person will also support the activities of the material resources service through their expertise.

Main Tasks
- Plan and monitor the progress of construction projects;
- Advise the school administration and the multidisciplinary team on the administrative, educational, and technical aspects of the projects;
- Ensure compliance with various standards and regulations in force.
Specific Tasks
- Conduct needs analysis for construction, layout, or renovation on a small and medium scale, develop proposals, and recommend work in collaboration with the project planning department;
- Prepare and supervise the preparation of plans and specifications, tender documents, and analyze the bids received for decision-making regarding the schedule and submission documents;
- Plan and evaluate projects in terms of costs, schedule, human resources, and material resources necessary for their execution;
- Update the database for cost evaluation;
- Supervise construction work carried out in the buildings of the school service center, ensuring quality control of the work, safety of occupants, and compliance with the schedule and budget;
- Act as a facilitator for the execution of the work and communicate all decisions to stakeholders during the projects;
- Analyze, comment, and make recommendations regarding project change requests, payment requests, work follow-ups, and end-of-project deficiencies;
- Write progress reports on the work as well as modifications to the projects;
- Prevent and manage project issues and risks;
- Help improve project procedures and optimize departmental efficiency;
- Propose alternatives to improve the work of their group;
- Represent the school service center to partner firms with which they interact; lead site meetings;
- Advise school administrations and contribute to the work of multidisciplinary teams on administrative, educational, and technical matters;
- Participate in the development and establishment of standards, directives, guides, tools, or protocols for monitoring, execution, or inspection of work; ensure compliance with various standards and regulations in force;
- Follow up on billing (professionals and contractors, technical questions and answers (TQA), workshop drawings, technical sheets, and samples;
- Request permits or submissions to the CCU in collaboration with the architect at the City for construction work.
Requirements
- Be a member of the Ordre des architectes du Québec or a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec.
- Good adaptability, good stress management, and autonomy;
- Rigor, organizational skills, and a strong interest in teamwork;
- Good judgment, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications well;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Ability to solve problems;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; produce concise and precise recommendations and reports;
- Good experience in construction sites;
- Ability to act in a context that requires negotiation and reconciliation of divergent interests;
- Be results-oriented and focused on stakeholder satisfaction;
- Care about maintaining a healthy environment for students and the community;
- Master MS Project software (an asset);
- Hold a valid driver's license and have access to a car for travel (an asset);
- Have relevant experience in construction project management (an asset)
- Proof of passing the French test SEL or CÉFRANC or TECFÉE or the enriched French exam of the CSSMB within three months of hiring at the latest;
