You as a Construction Operations Manager:
- Provide leadership and oversight for all active construction projects from preconstruction turnover through closeout.
- Ensure company operations align with strategic goals, corporate policies, and business objectives.
- Assist in development and implementation to improve operational procedures to increase efficiency, consistency, and profitability.
- Monitor operational performance using key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions where required or escalate to area leadership.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Oversight of regional construction program
- Oversee project performance related to schedule, budget, quality, EHS.
- Conduct regular project reviews to evaluate financial performance, forecasting, productivity, risk, and overall project health.
- Support project teams in resolving complex issues and removing obstacles that impact project success.
- Ensure project teams maintain accurate forecasting, reporting, and documentation.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to ensure successful project delivery.
- Coordinate staffing and resource allocation across multiple projects.
- Ensure projects are adequately resourced with qualified personnel, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Assist with workforce planning, succession planning, recruitment, and employee development.
- Support mentoring and coaching initiatives to strengthen leadership throughout the organization.
- Monitor project profitability and overall operational performance.
- Review budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and cost reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, and increase operational efficiency.
- Champion the company's EHS program.
- Ensure projects comply with company policies, legislation, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote quality management processes that achieve exceptional project outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Support repeat business opportunities through outstanding project execution and relationship management.
Do you see these qualities in yourself?
- 10+ years of construction management experience or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
- Demonstrated 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of various trade disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control and engineered shop drawings.
- Have an understanding of CCDC construction contracts and documents, understanding of drawings, specifications, building practices and building codes.
- Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing all disciplines, employees, and subtrades.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
- Effective problem solving and negotiation skills.
- Understanding of budgeting, costing, scheduling, risk management and profitability.
- Adaptable and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, within tight deadlines while maintaining safety and high-quality standards.
- Experience working on Healthcare, Higher Education, and Government/Institutional projects is considered an asset.
- Experience using Procore is considered an asset.
- Certification of First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, and advanced knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
