Reporting to the VP Controller, the Director of Procurement is responsible for developing and implementing Company wide procurement strategies, managing complex sourcing projects and overseeing the procurement process to ensure value and efficiency. This role adds meaningful value to the Company by identifying and delivering cost savings, enhancing process efficiency with technology, and mitigating third-party risk. The role oversees service and quality assurance, with responsibility for developing, implementing, monitoring and addressing performance metrics for Procurement operations.
The Director of Procurement will be based at CI’s head office at 15 York Street, Toronto, Ontario.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Procurement Strategy & Operating Model
- Define and execute the Procurement strategy and operating model.
- Establish procurement policies, standards, processes, and governance.
- Build Procurement capabilities, tools, reporting, and organizational structure.
- Drive adoption of procurement practices across the organization.
Vendor Lifecycle Governance
- Design and oversee end-to-end vendor lifecycle management processes.
- Establish controls, approval frameworks, and engagement models for third-party relationships.
- Ensure clear ownership and accountability across business stakeholders and control functions.
- Maintain vendor governance, documentation, and audit evidence standards.
Commercial Advisory & Business Partnership
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders on vendor strategy, commercial considerations, and supplier decisions.
- Support business owners with negotiations, contract renewals, and supplier-related matters as needed.
- Provide market intelligence, benchmarking, and procurement guidance.
Third-Party Risk & Regulatory Compliance
- Partner with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Privacy, Finance, and Technology to ensure appropriate third-party oversight.
- Embed regulatory and risk management requirements into procurement processes.
- Monitor compliance with procurement policies and governance requirements.
Supplier & Spend Oversight
- Develop supplier segmentation, governance, and performance management frameworks.
- Improve spend visibility, reporting, and vendor portfolio management.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, consolidation, and value realization.
- Track procurement performance, savings, and business outcomes.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
Education
- Undergraduate degree related to Business, Commerce and/or Supply Chain Operations
- A professional procurement designation is an asset
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (Canada) is an asset
Experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years of senior Procurement experience in complex environments
- Extensive experience in strategic sourcing, contracting, supplier program management, and internal controls

This role follows our in office work model and requires employees to be onsite four days per week to support collaboration and business needs.
This opportunity is for an existing vacancy with the company. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $93,000 to $143,000. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a bonus program. In addition, The Company offers a variety of benefits to eligible employees, including health insurance coverage, wellness programs, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plans, paid leave programs, education-related programs, paid holidays and vacation time, and many others. Many of these benefits are subsidized or fully paid for by the company.
