About the Opportunity
Manage and process payroll for a workforce of over 550 employees spanning salaried, hourly, and unionized roles in multiple locations across Canada. The business runs a complex, multi-region bi-weekly payroll cycle that serves a high-volume frontline workforce.
You'll run end-to-end payroll for over 500 employees on ADP, including a high-volume cycle covering multiple locations, and you'll work across a mix of salaried staff and a hourly workforce.
You'll also provide day-to-day guidance to two payroll support staff, helping build consistency across a function that's ready for it.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end, bi-weekly payroll processing across multiple Canadian regions for over 500 employees on ADP
- Process complex payroll transactions including terminations, ROEs, severance, grievance payouts, and retroactive pay adjustments across four unionized environments
- Administer payroll for both salaried staff and a high-turnover, hourly frontline workforce
- Partner with Accounting on GL interface reconciliation and journal entry accuracy
- Process short-term and long-term disability claims and coordinate directly with the benefits provider
- Support pension and benefits enrollment and administration as needed
- Upload and reconcile time and attendance data received from an external system
- Provide day-to-day guidance to two payroll support staff and build consistency across processes
- Support quarterly headcount reporting
- Contribute to documentation and process standardization as the organization works toward a synchronized payroll platform
What You Bring
- Full-cycle, multi-location Canadian payroll experience, including bi-weekly processing for 500+ employees
- Strong hands-on ADP proficiency
- Experience with unionized payroll environments, including retroactive pay and grievance payouts
- Familiarity with Quebec payroll requirements
- Comfort working with a GL interface and partnering directly with Accounting on journal entries
- Proven ability to hit the ground running with minimal handover - you know how to piece things together quickly and bring structure to what you find
- Strong communicator who works cross-functionally without friction
- Comfortable on-site five days a week
Nice to Have
- Experience reconciling data from an external time and attendance system
- Background mentoring or supporting junior payroll staff
- Exposure to short-term and long-term disability claims administration
