About CNC Industries
At CNC Industries, we’re a high-mix, low-volume machine shop specializing in complex components. Our customers often come to us with challenging parts, tight timelines, and work that requires more than simply running the same processes every day.
That environment requires the right tooling to be available when it is needed, in good condition, and ready for the shop floor.
We’re looking for a Tooling Coordinator who understands machining and cutting tools, stays organized, and can work closely with programmers, supervisors, machinists, and suppliers to keep our tooling requirements under control.
What You’ll Be Doing
As our Tooling Coordinator, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day management of the tool crib and help ensure our machinists have the tooling they need to keep jobs moving.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Sourcing and purchasing new tooling as directed by programmers and supervisors
- Working with tooling vendors to identify suitable products, alternatives, and replacement tooling
- Monitoring tooling inventory and maintaining appropriate stock levels to avoid stock-out situations
- Keeping tooling pricing, supplier, and vendor information accurate and up to date
- Receiving, organizing, and maintaining cutting tools, inserts, toolholders, and related tooling
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized tool crib area
- Assisting machinists, where able, with tooling-related issues and suggesting practical corrective actions
- Evaluating returned cutting tools to determine whether they are reusable, or are damaged beyond repair
- Communicating tooling shortages, concerns, and recurring issues to programmers and supervisors before they affect production
What We’re Looking For
Ideally, you bring:
- Previous experience in a CNC machining, manufacturing, tool crib, or industrial supply environment
- A working knowledge of cutting tools, inserts, toolholders, and common CNC machining applications
- Required experience operating tool presetting equipment, specifically DMG Microset or similar
- The ability to recognize tooling wear, damage, and potential causes of tooling problems
- Strong organizational, inventory-management, and record-keeping skills
- Experience purchasing tooling or working directly with industrial tooling suppliers
- Good computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate inventory, pricing, and vendor information
- The ability to communicate effectively with machinists, programmers, supervisors, and vendors
- A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving and the ability to manage multiple priorities
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who understands that good tooling management is more than keeping shelves stocked. It means having the right tool, in the right condition, available when production needs it.
