Role Description This full-time Civil Engineer role is an on-site position located in Victoria, BC. The Civil Engineer will support the planning, design, and review of civil infrastructure projects, including residential developments, municipal works, and commercial sites. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing design drawings and calculations, assisting with stormwater management plans, coordinating with geotechnical engineers, and supporting materials testing and site investigations as needed. The role also involves collaborating with clients, municipalities, and contractors, preparing technical reports, and ensuring designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. The Civil Engineer will contribute to project delivery from concept through construction, helping ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective outcomes.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Civil Engineering and experience applying core civil engineering principles to infrastructure and land development projects.
- Demonstrated skills in Civil Engineering Design, including preparing plans, calculations, and technical documentation for site grading, roads, utilities, and related works.
- Experience with Planning activities such as feasibility assessments, coordination with municipal requirements, and integration of civil designs with overall project concepts.
- Knowledge of Stormwater Management practices, including drainage design, detention systems, and compliance with local and regional regulations.
- Professional registration or eligibility for registration as a Civil Engineer (e.g., EIT or P.Eng. in British Columbia) and familiarity with Western Canada codes and standards.
- Proficiency with relevant design and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD or Civil 3D) and strong technical reporting and documentation skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work safely on active sites and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline; experience in geotechnical or municipal infrastructure projects is an asset.
