Position Summary
Full-time Administrative, reclassified replacement position
The Degree Development, Renewal and Accreditation Consultant provides leadership and expertise in the development, renewal, and accreditation of degree programs at Conestoga, ensuring compliance with institutional, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. The incumbent coordinates degree proposals and accreditation submissions, working collaboratively with academic schools, Academic Administration, government agencies, accrediting bodies, and the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB), while providing guidance, training, and resources throughout the process. The role also leads strategic initiatives and stakeholder engagement activities that support continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in degree education across the College.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m.-to 4:30 p.m. This role requires on-site attendance at minimum of one day per month and additionally as required at 3065 King St. E. in Kitchener.
Responsibilities
Degree development, renewal and accreditation
- Lead and coordinate the planning, development, submission, and approval of new and renewed degree programs through internal and external review processes
- Provide guidance, training, and consultation to program teams regarding degree development, accreditation requirements, policies, procedures, and regulatory expectations
- Develop project plans, timelines, templates, tools, and resources to support consistent and compliant proposal development
- Review and assess submissions, reports, and supporting documentation; identify required revisions and provide recommendations to ensure quality and compliance
- Coordinate and prepare final submission materials for the Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board (PEQAB) and other accrediting organizations
- Support program teams in preparing for accreditation reviews and site visits, including agenda development, presentation materials, and logistics; participates in site visits
- Coordinate Conestoga’s responses to accreditation and government inquiries, assessments and reports
- Prepare correspondence and reports for internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, government officials, faculty, and program representatives
Strategic initiatives and stakeholder engagement
- Lead and facilitate the development of initiatives that enhance program delivery across the college
- Collaborate with academic schools, faculty, students, administrators, support staff, and external stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement initiatives aligned with institutional priorities
- Establish partnerships with industry, accrediting organizations, and post-secondary institutions to support innovation and excellence in degree education
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness and impact of initiatives using measurable outcomes
- Provide guidance and recommendations regarding opportunities, risks, and emerging trends related to degree development and accreditation
- Coordinate and facilitate committees, working groups, and collaborative projects
Qualifications
- A master’s degree in education, public administration, or a related field is required
- Minimum three years of experience in program implementation and higher academic administration is required; knowledge of public policy analysis and government application procedures is preferred
- Knowledge of the Canadian post-secondary education system
- Understanding of government policy, regulatory frameworks, and policy analysis
- Knowledge of curriculum development and quality assurance processes
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Strong written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a complex environment
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
