Position Summary
Full-time Administrative, reclassified replacement position
The Manager, International Admissions provides strategic and operational leadership for international admissions, ensuring efficient, consistent, and student-focused service delivery from application through enrolment. The position oversees admissions, credential assessment, and processing functions, supports the achievement of international enrolment targets, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a seamless admission and registration experience for international students. The position monitors program enrolments, interest, delivery, and makes recommendations to Chairs to ensure financial success.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the needs of the department through a hybrid work arrangement, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm with 3 days on-site at the Doon campus located at 299 Doon Valley Drive in Kitchener, Ontario, and 2 days remote.
Responsibilities
Management of International Admissions processes and procedures
- Manages the day-to-day International Admissions operations, including problem-solving, addressing staff, student and agent issues, establishing priorities, assessing staffing requirements, and organizing and distributing work
- Develops, assesses, and monitors International Admissions policies, processes and systems to ensure proficiency and quality, and student satisfaction, while adhering to program admission requirements and college policies and standards
- Establishes and monitors performance metrics to evaluate admissions processing, team effectiveness, and service standards
- Liaises with academic departments, Scheduling and Registrar’s Office regarding enrolment projections and admissions; consults with stakeholders relating to planning of programs, including semester, sections, capacity and location
- Manages the International Admission Officers and Credential Assessors, providing direction related to program and admission-related functions; ensures temporary staff are hired and trained to support peak periods
- Leads the delivery of high-quality, student-focused admissions services and establishes customer service standards for the team
International enrolment statistics, reporting, and budgeting
- Provides the Director with statistical reports, prepares presentations as required, and liaises with internal stakeholders regarding enrolment metrics
- Summarizes, monitors and updates enrolment capacities and fluctuating conversion rates each semester by program
- Reports on international enrolment by School and other metrics such as second program enrolment; EAS to post-secondary, enrolment by credential, etc., all of which contribute significantly to department planning and enrolment planning within the schools
- Participates in the development of the international admissions budget and monitors monthly expenditures
Credential assessment and quality assurance
- Monitors in-house credential assessment capacity and establishes country standards for future reference; implements processes for analyzing the quality of applicants, students, and agents
- Liaises with OCAS on a regular basis, troubleshoots system issues as they arise, and facilitates recommendations
- Recommends, develops, and implements international admissions processes within a continuous improvement framework
- Liaises with colleagues in the education field to research and identify best practices related to international admissions
Cross-college initiatives
- Works closely with the Registrar’s Office to lead and manage start-up and registration activities for new international students
- Liaises across college departments to ensure International Admission representation at events such as open houses and college fairs
- Represents International Admissions on a variety of internal college committees
Qualifications
- A four-year degree in Business, Education, International Studies, Social Sciences, Public Administration or a related field is required
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in admissions, enrolment management, student services, or a related area
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills with experience managing, coaching, and supporting teams in a high-volume, service-focused environment
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with experience managing complex processes, multiple priorities, and enrollment-related initiatives
- Strong communication and intercultural competency, combined with proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), Power BI, and a solid understanding of post-secondary admissions, enrolment management, and college policies and procedures
