Bird Construction is pleased to share the attached Scott Ferguson Memorial Scholarship opportunity for Indigenous students pursuing post-secondary education.
Established in memory of Scott Ferguson, a respected advocate for building meaningful relationships between Indigenous communities and industry this scholarship provides a
$3,000 award to support an Indigenous student in their educational journey. This award is based on reconciliation, leadership qualities, community involvement and financial need.
Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a full-time post-secondary institution for the upcoming academic year. Students completing Grade 12 by June 30th of the application year must provide proof of acceptance and enrollment prior to receiving the scholarship.
The following criteria will be considered with respect to the Scott Ferguson Memorial Scholarship:
- Applicants must be Alberta residents of Indigenous (First Nation, Inuit, or Metis) descent;
- Applicants must provide a written (essay format) account of why they should be selected; outlining their commitment and contribution to reconciliation, community leadership, extra-curricular activities and financial need.
- Applicants must provide (2) character references in form of letters of recommendation;
- Applicants must be accepted/enrolled into a recognized post-secondary institution as a full-time student
- Applicants must be in good academic standing and provide a copy of their most recent transcript
