ACCOUNT MANAGER, MANAGED IT SERVICES (BUSINESS SOLUTIONS ADVISOR)
Constant C Technology Group · Winnipeg (in office, 260-100 Innovation Drive, with regular client visits)
$60,000 to $70,000 base salary plus quarterly performance bonus · Full time, permanent
WHY WE ARE HIRING
This is an account management role with clients we already have. It is not a new business sales job. Someone else does that. Looking after existing clients is a full job here, and this role is on the team that does it.
Clients want two things from a provider like us. One is a service desk that answers and treats them well. The other is a person who knows their business. This role is that person for a group of our clients.
Some companies call this job a vCIO or a client success manager. If you do it now somewhere else, we want to hear from you.
ABOUT US
Constant C Technology Group is a Winnipeg based Managed Service and Security Provider. In plain terms, businesses pay us a monthly fee to run, support and secure their technology. We have been looking after Manitoba businesses for about 40 years. Your work gets seen here, by us and by your clients.
Our technicians stay an average of more than six years. That matters in this role. The people who deliver what you recommend already know your clients.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Own the relationship with a portfolio of managed services clients. You are their first call for anything that is not a support request.
- Run regular strategy meetings with each client. Service gets covered, but most of the time goes to where their business is going and what technology needs to do for it.
- Build and keep a technology plan for every client: what needs replacing, what needs securing, what it costs and when. The client should know what is coming before budget time.
- Lead client conversations on security, AI, automation and how their people get work done. Replacing a PC is the easy part of this job. You do not have to be the engineer in the room. You bring one when the conversation needs it.
- Grow the relationship by finding opportunities that genuinely make the client better. You are not expected to sell for the sake of selling. You are expected to recognize when a client should be investing more in technology, security or AI, and to help move that decision forward.
- Tell a client when something is not worth buying yet.
- Follow through on the recommendations that matter. When a client decides against something important, you make sure they understand the risk and you confirm the decision with them in writing.
- Prepare quotes, handle renewals and licence changes, and keep each client's agreement accurate. They should pay for what they have. No more and no less.
- Be the client's advocate inside Constant C. When something needs attention, you bring it to the service manager with the facts and see it through.
- Visit clients where they work. You learn things there that never come up in a meeting.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
We do not hand you a client list and wish you luck.
- Weeks 1 to 3. Learn what we deliver, why we recommend it and how we support it. Sit in on client meetings. Spend time with the service desk and the project team.
- Weeks 4 to 8. Meet your first group of clients, each introduced in person by the person who looks after them today. You run their meetings with one of us alongside.
- Weeks 9 to 12. You run your own meetings and quotes. Your largest clients have a current plan. The rest have a date booked.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are not expecting every box below to be ticked. If you have the essentials and a track record of picking things up, we would rather hire you and train the rest. We fund the training and we give you the time.
Essential
- Experience owning client relationships in a business to business setting. About three years is a good guide. It could be account management, customer success, or a technical role where clients came to you first. The industry matters less than the track record.
- Able to explain technical things in business terms, to an owner or a finance lead, without jargon. You will be talking about security, cloud, Microsoft 365, backup and AI. We will teach you our products. You bring the ability to make them make sense.
- You ask how the client makes money before you recommend anything.
- Comfortable with numbers. You can build a quote, read an agreement and explain a price.
- Organized and reliable. If you say you will follow up, you do, without being chased.
- Clear written communication. Decision makers read your proposals and emails.
- A humble, hungry, smart mindset. Confident in what you know, honest about what you do not, and easy to work alongside.
- Based full time at our Winnipeg office, and able to get to client sites in and around the city during the work day. For most people that means a valid driver's licence and a vehicle.
Great to have, and teachable if you do not
- Experience at a managed service provider (MSP), or with managed IT and security services.
- Microsoft 365 licensing, meaning which plan fits which client.
- A CRM used daily. We run ConnectWise, which holds client records, tickets and billing.
- Experience with cyber insurance or compliance requirements, or with helping a business adopt AI.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Base salary of $60,000 to $70,000, depending on experience.
- A quarterly performance bonus once you reach one year with us.
- Loyalty bonuses at three years, five years, and every five years after that. We would rather reward people for staying than spend the money replacing them.
- Health and dental benefits, plus flex days.
- Company funded training, including Microsoft and vendor courses.
- Monthly team events. Not a mandatory fun committee, just time together.
- A service desk that measures its own work. You will learn what we can deliver before you promise anything to a client.
