Drafting Technologist

Position Overview:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Drafting Technologist to support the engineering and operations teams of a large midstream company.
This position will focus on updating and correcting technical drawings based on field redlines and feedback from engineering review teams. The successful candidate will be highly proficient in AutoCAD and capable of producing accurate, compliant drawings efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
The role supports pipeline and facility assets across mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines, with a particular emphasis on electrical drawing updates and backdrafting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, revise, and maintain engineering drawings for pipeline and facility assets.
- Translate engineering information, field redlines, project deliverables, and review comments into accurate AutoCAD drawings.
- Complete drawing corrections identified by engineering and technical review teams.
- Incorporate site markups, photographs, and as-built information into final drawing packages.
- Prepare and update P&IDs, plot plans, facility layouts, electrical drawings, instrumentation drawings, and equipment drawings.
- Support the preparation of Issued for Construction and As-Built drawing packages.
- Ensure drawings comply with internal drafting standards, quality requirements, and applicable industry practices.
- Maintain accurate drawing revisions, document-control records, and project histories.
- Review incomplete or evolving project information and resolve drawing discrepancies.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, operations, maintenance, field personnel, contractors, and external drafting providers.
- Support multiple projects and drawing requests while maintaining accuracy and meeting established deadlines.
- Contribute to the accuracy of process safety information and engineering records.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of drafting experience within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong proficiency and efficiency using AutoCAD.
- Experience updating drawings from field redlines and engineering-review comments.
- Experience working across mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
- Demonstrated experience with P&IDs, plot plans, facility layouts, electrical drawings, and equipment drawings.
- Ability to interpret field markups, site photographs, technical documents, and project information.
- Familiarity with pipeline and facility operations.
- Understanding of instrumentation, control systems, electrical systems, and equipment-tagging conventions.
- Experience with drawing-management or engineering-record systems is preferred.
- Previous experience working with the drawing standards and systems of a large pipeline or midstream operator is considered an asset.
- Revit experience is considered an asset.
