Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform safe and efficient welding for as-needed repairs and refurbishing of fixed equipment
- Fabricate and assemble metal structures and equipment using cutters, shapers, and measuring tools
- Conduct welding as-needed repairs and refurbishing on a variety of heavy mining equipment, including shovels, drills, haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators
- Perform welding of various heavy equipment attachments and components utilizing MCAW and FCAW techniques
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment to execute tasks effectively
- Complete Daily FLHA's, risk Assessments, and other safety documents for tasks being undertaken
Other duties as assigned
- Ensure all maintenance and repair work is conducted in accordance with company policy, applicable safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in safety meetings and training and contribute to the ongoing improvement of safety practices and equipment reliability.
- Work closely with other maintenance staff to coordinate maintenance activities and improve efficiency.
Education, Experience & Qualification
- Red Seal Certification (Welder)
- A minimum of 4-5 years of related industrial experience, specifically in a maintenance capacity within a mining or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Technical Competencies & Skills
- Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts; on a 7x7 rotation.
- Self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Physical fitness to perform labor-intensive tasks, including working at heights and in tight areas.
- Understanding of mining processes and mine monitoring control systems (operations and maintenance).
- Good English communication skills both oral and written.
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Proven safety and attendance record.
- Knowledge of computer maintenance systems.
