Convergint is currently recruiting for a team-oriented Journeyperson Electrician to join our team in Calgary, AB. As the Journeyperson Electrician, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for a broad range of installations including basic to complex systems. Scope of work includes installation of all electrical components of an HVAC, automation, or security projects. This position will direct and organize resources for a wide variety of job sites.

What you’ll do with “Our Training and Your Experience”
- Install conduit inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment such as measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Executes all installations in accordance with Provincial, local regulations, general best practices as well as company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Uses advanced troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems.
- Perform physically demanding tasks such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.
- Proactively seeks technical guidance from more experienced staff for difficult and unusual situations.
- Advise supervisor on whether continued operation of equipment or working conditions could be hazardous.
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other electrical components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical systems based on job specifications and local codes.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment.
- Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Perform duties such as maintaining apprenticeship records and files as required.
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
- Keeps up to date and informed on company products, services and policies.
- Presents a professional image of Convergint Technologies at all times in appearance and behaviour.
- Acts as “our customer’s best service provider” at all times thereby ensuring Convergint Technologies is the customer’s first choice for service.
- Communicates with and work with the other team members consistently to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center, and company.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You’ll Need
- Advanced technical skills and experience related to electrical installations that make up the HVAC Building Automation and Security systems we offer our clients.
- Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper)
- Must be a self-starter and work well with minimal supervision.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, and staff development skills. Actively seeks ways in which to act as a role model, guide, develop and mentor others within the team.
- Travel to jobsites is required. Valid driver’s license required.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced organizational skills and the ability to keep tools and work area tidy.
- Good computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Must have the appropriate tools for the job based on the Convergint Technology tool list requirements.
Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Holds valid Electrical Journeyman ticket.
- Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of five years of previous relevant field experience required.
- Commercial or industrial construction experience preferred.
