Role Description The Bookkeeper is a contractor, on-site role based in Victoria, BC, responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting financial operations. Key tasks include recording and reconciling transactions, preparing journal entries, managing accounts payable and receivable, and assisting with the preparation of financial statements and reports. The Bookkeeper will work with Sage to process invoices, payments, and payroll-related entries, while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and relevant financial regulations. This role also involves collaborating with management to provide timely financial information, supporting budgeting activities, and helping to streamline financial processes to support the Centre’s programs and services.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in bookkeeping and preparing journal entries (accounting).
- Experience working with accounting software Sage and basic finance functions.
- Ability to assist in preparing and interpreting financial statements.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with program and administrative staff.
- Post-secondary coursework or certification in accounting, finance, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience in a non-profit or community-based organization is an advantage.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical financial practices.
