Position Summary
The Clinical Director provides strategic and operational leadership for all clinical programs and services. This role is critical to Cornerstone’s mission to offer accessible services that promote mental, emotional, and relational wellness, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, ethical, evidence-informed mental health services while supervising and developing a team of supervisors, therapists, and clinical support staff. The Clinical Director works closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership to align clinical service delivery with the agency's mission, funding requirements, and community needs.
As a leadership role within our clinical team, the Clinical Director plays a key part in affirming, animating, and regenerating Cornerstone's faith-based mission and values, available on our website. The Clinical Director will also provide services to 8- 12 clients a week to maintain registration and stay current in their role of mentoring other clinicians.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Quality Assurance
- Provide clinical oversight and direction for all counselling and therapeutic programs
- Establish and maintain clinical standards, policies, and best-practice protocols consistent with regulatory and professional bodies
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, ethical guidelines, and accreditation requirements
- Monitor clinical outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives
- Manage clinical risk, including crisis response protocols and high-risk case consultation
Staff Supervision & Development
- Provide clinical supervision to counsellors, therapists, and clinical interns/practicum students
- Recruit, onboard, and evaluate clinical staff
- Develop and deliver ongoing training and professional development opportunities
- Foster a supportive, collaborative team culture that prioritizes staff wellbeing
- Conduct regular case consultations and clinical team meetings
Program Development & Evaluation
- Design, implement, and evaluate clinical programs in response to community needs and funder requirements
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on program planning, grant proposals, and funder reporting
- Track and report on clinical service metrics, outcomes, and client satisfaction
- Identify emerging service gaps and recommend new program development
Organizational Leadership
- Serve as a member of the senior leadership team, contributing to overall agency strategy
- Represent the agency's clinical perspective in external partnerships, community collaborations, and stakeholder relationships
- Support policy development related to client care, intake, and service delivery in collaboration with other managers
- Participate in budget planning for clinical programs and staffing
- Represent Cornerstone externally on clinical matters, including with regulatory bodies, referral partners, funders, and the community, in line with positions agreed upon with the Executive Director
Qualifications:
Education
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related mental health discipline
- Current registration/licensure in good standing with the relevant professional regulatory body
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of direct clinical practice experience offering mental health services to diverse client populations
- Minimum 2 years in a clinical supervisory or leadership role that includes:
- building a supportive work environment that engages a diverse group of mental health professionals and encourages teamwork, trust, and collaboration
- hiring, coaching, and supporting team members
- Demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and trauma-informed care
- Strong understanding of ethical decision making, confidentiality, and client care and risk management
- Training in clinical supervision requirements
- Experience working within a not-for-profit or community-based service environment (preferred)
- Familiarity with funder reporting requirements and outcome measurement frameworks (preferred)
