# Operations Manager – Construction

Cornerstone Masonry & Exteriors is looking for an experienced construction professional to take a key leadership role in our day-to-day field operations.
We are a growing commercial exterior contractor specializing in masonry, siding, EIFS/stucco and exterior cladding systems. We work on projects throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta and are looking for someone who can take ownership of our field operations, manage people effectively and keep multiple projects moving forward to completion.
This is a **hands-on construction management position - not a desk-only operations role.**
Previous experience directly managing construction crews is required. Bricklaying or substantial masonry experience is a major asset.
The Role:
As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating our field crews and subcontractors across multiple active construction projects.
You will work closely with ownership, project management, foremen, employees and subcontractors to make sure the right people, equipment and materials are in the right place at the right time.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Manage and coordinate construction crews and subcontractors
* Schedule manpower across multiple active projects
* Provide direction and accountability to foremen, employees and subcontractors
* Visit jobsites regularly and address field issues before they become larger problems
* Attend site meetings with general contractors, site superintendents and customers
* Coordinate project start-ups and day-to-day site requirements
* Coordinate equipment, manlifts, trucks, trailers, tools and material movement
* Help coordinate material deliveries and ensure crews have what they need to remain productive
* Review drawings, details and scope requirements with field personnel
* Assist with quality control and ensure work meets Cornerstone's standards
* Coordinate safety requirements, documentation and site-specific requirements with our safety team
* Track project progress and communicate scheduling or production concerns to ownership
* Help resolve personnel, scheduling and subcontractor issues
* Assist with hiring, onboarding and development of field personnel
* Drive a company truck and trailer when required
* Be willing to step onto a jobsite and help solve problems directly when circumstances require it
What We're Looking For
Required:
* Proven experience directly managing construction crews
* Strong construction knowledge and understanding of how jobsites operate
* Ability to coordinate multiple crews and projects simultaneously
* Strong leadership skills and the ability to hold people accountable in a positive way
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
* Comfortable communicating with general contractors, superintendents, employees and subcontractors
* Able to read construction drawings and details
* Comfortable using a phone, email and basic construction/project-management software
* Valid driver's licence
* Willingness to travel to projects when required
Major Assets:
* Journeyperson bricklayer or significant hands-on bricklaying/masonry experience
* Experience supervising masonry or siding crews
* Commercial construction experience
* Experience with masonry veneer, CMU, stone, siding, EIFS/stucco or exterior cladding systems
* Experience managing subcontractors
* Experience coordinating manlifts, equipment and construction logistics
* Knowledge of construction safety requirements

You should be comfortable walking onto a site, understanding what is happening, talking with the foreman and GC, making a decision and getting the job moving.
You don't need to know every exterior system we install on day one. We can teach our systems and processes. What is much harder to teach is construction experience, leadership, organization, accountability and the ability to manage crews effectively.
This position has significant responsibility and is intended for someone who wants to become a key part of Cornerstone's leadership team.
Compensation
Competitive salary based on experience.
Compensation will reflect the candidate's construction management experience, trade background and ability to take ownership of field operations.
