Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Unit Manager for the Family Medicine Center, the Clerk IV is responsible for provisions of clerical support working collaboratively with staff, physicians, and residents. For physicians and residents this position formats and edits typed consults or letters to 3rd parties then sends them to specialists or to the referrals coordinator. Using the Electronic Medical Records system, this position manages all incoming faxes, receiving, indexing, filing, and forwarding as appropriate. Duties include necessary clerical skills supported by computer knowledge (Med Access, MS Word, Netcare), processing and preparation of patient documents, maintaining inventory and ordering of office supplies and/or ordering equipment repairs. Other duties include investigating/query abnormalities on incoming documents and make decisions on how to process the document, advising/updating clinic staff and physicians of changes to processes regarding incoming/outgoing documents and other related duties as required in accordance with Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision, Values and policy and procedures. Lastly, working closely with the clinic’s administrative team, this position will assist with receiving and distributing mail. Please note: Classifications Under Review.

Required Qualifications:
One year related post secondary certificate required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Related post-secondary courses in Medical Office Assistant/Medical Transcription or related. Grade 12 or recognized equivalent required. Completion of a course in Medical Terminology required. Strong word-processing skills and a typing speed of 60 wpm. Advanced editing and proofreading skills. Ability to multi-task. One year experience in a medical office environment typing medical documents and maintaining patient files. Strong Computer and software skills. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel required. Attention to Detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with electronic medical records (Med Access EMR) preferred. Exceptional telephone and customer service skills. High volume Electronic Document Distribution, faxing experience. Excellent organizational, inter-professional and communication skills required. Able to work well under stress of a continuous workflow with frequent interruptions.
