The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating in the delivery of holistic care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN practices to full scope, applying professional nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to support safe care and positive health outcomes. The role is committed to providing person-centred, culturally safe, and inclusive care that respects the diverse backgrounds, experiences, values, and needs of patients/residents and families. The LPN contributes to a culture of learning and professional practice excellence by orienting, coaching, mentoring, and supporting the development of staff, students, and learners. The role promotes knowledge sharing and collaborative practice to enhance individual, team, and organizational effectiveness. Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
1 year of recent (within 2 years) adult acute care experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong team work and interpersonal skills. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications:
1 year of acute care orthopaedic/surgical nursing experience (within the last 2 years). A recent successful preceptorship in orthopaedic/surgery may be considered (within the last 2 years). Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter training and experience. Negative pressure wound therapy education an asset. Inpatient Connect Care trained.
