Your Opportunity:
Licensed Practical Nurse on a 28-bed surgery inpatient unit. Nursing staff on 6 East provide safe and compassionate care for patients primarily under the Orthopaedic Surgery Service as well as other surgical services and medicine off-service patients. Opportunity to work in a fast-paced team, environment performing a wide variety of nursing assessments, interventions and evaluations. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating in the delivery of holistic care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN practices to full scope, applying professional nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to support safe care and positive health outcomes. The role is committed to providing person-centred, culturally safe, and inclusive care that respects the diverse backgrounds, experiences, values, and needs of patients/residents and families. The LPN contributes to a culture of learning and professional practice excellence by orienting, coaching, mentoring, and supporting the development of staff, students, and learners. Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
At least one year of acute care inpatient nursing experience, within the last two years, OR, surgery inpatient preceptorship completed successfully within the last two years.
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year of acute adult surgical experience. Recent successful completion of surgery preceptorship may be considered.
