The MCH Surgery Program is looking for dedicated and committed LPN's that are eager to learn about post operative patient care management. The Casual employee will provide safe and compassionate care for a wide variety of patient populations across all surgery Units including 5 East (Our NEW Surgical Care Unit opening this fall!), 6 East and 6 West. This would include patients under orthopedic, general, urology, gynecology and plastics surgery services as well as medicine services where applicable. The successful candidate will gain the skills to care for all types of surgical patients and the nursing assessments and interventions that encompass these services, as well as working within high functioning team environments.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating in the delivery of holistic care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN practices to full scope, applying professional nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to support safe care and positive health outcomes. Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
One - two years of medical or surgical inpatient acute care nursing experience. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills. Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) Line education an asset. Negative pressure wound therapy education as asset. Other education or experience useful to this highly flexible position considered an asset.
