Original job description
As our first engineering hire, you are not here to maintain legacy code or manage a backlog of minor bug fixes. You are here to build the platform from the ground up.
Architect from Scratch: Make the foundational decisions on our tech stack, database schema, and deployment pipeline. You will own the entire architecture of the Phase 1 MVP.
Build the "Quote Assist" Engine: Develop a multi-variable algorithmic calculator. You will integrate mapping APIs and write custom logic that factors in 100,000-lb weight classes, pilot car triggers, provincial permits, and loading times to generate instant heavy haul quotes.
Solve the "Dead Zone" (Offline-First): Mine sites don't have 5G. You will build robust offline-capable functionality (PWAs, local caching) so field workers can log engine hours and drop-off photos without a signal, syncing automatically when they hit cell service.
Implement Complex Fintech: Integrate Stripe Connect to handle dynamic physical-world billing. You will architect flows for damage deposit pre-authorizations, variable final invoicing (e.g., fuel and cleaning surcharges), and split payouts between IronMax and our supplier yards.
Translate Dirt to Code: You will sit virtually (or physically) with our veteran dispatchers and truck drivers. Your job is to listen to the messy, physical realities of heavy construction and translate those constraints into clean, scalable software logic.
Ship Pragmatically: Test functional code with our internal CraneMax dispatch team weekly. We favor shipping a working product and iterating based on real-world feedback over building a perfect, over-engineered system in a vacuum.
