Role Description The Security Systems Installer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Halifax Metropolitan Area. This position is responsible for installing, configuring, and testing residential and commercial security systems, including cameras, alarm panels, sensors, and access control devices. Day-to-day tasks include running and terminating data and low-voltage wiring, mounting and connecting equipment, performing system diagnostics, and verifying proper operation. The role involves traveling to customer locations, interpreting installation plans, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing clear, professional communication with clients. The installer is also expected to follow safety standards, maintain accurate records of work performed, and collaborate with team members to complete projects on schedule.
Qualifications
- Experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance of security systems such as cameras, alarms, and access control devices.
- Skills in low-voltage and data wiring, including cable routing, termination, testing, and basic network connectivity.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, site plans, and equipment manuals, and to use hand and power tools safely.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for hardware, wiring, and system connectivity issues.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain system functions and support clients on-site.
- Capacity to work independently and in a team environment, managing time and tasks across multiple job sites.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel within the Greater Halifax area.
- Relevant technical training or certification in security systems, low-voltage wiring, or a related field is an asset.
- Comfort with physically demanding work, including climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and working in varied indoor and outdoor conditions.
