About Dart Bryant LLP
Dart Bryant LLP is a Calgary-based public accounting firm providing assurance, accounting, tax and advisory services to a diverse group of clients.
Approximately two-thirds of the role will focus on assurance work for non-profit organizations and registered charities. The remaining one-third will involve working with privately owned, owner-managed businesses, including accounting and tax compliance work. We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join us and take an active role across this varied client base.
We are a collaborative, entrepreneurial firm. Our environment is professional, but not overly formal. We work as a team, share ideas and give people room to take ownership of their work. Because we are a smaller firm, you will work closely with partners and clients and gain broad experience across engagements.
The Role
This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable managing their work, communicating directly with clients and helping files move forward. The position will be approximately two-thirds charity and non-profit assurance work and one-third work with owner-managed businesses, including tax compliance. You will have support when you need it, but also the opportunity to take real responsibility for your files.
· Plan and complete audit and review engagements.
· Prepare assurance working papers and financial statements.
· Identify accounting and assurance issues and work with managers and partners to resolve them.
· Communicate directly with clients throughout engagements.
· Support and mentor junior team members.
· Assist owner-managed businesses with year-end accounting and corporate tax compliance, and prepare non-profit information returns and other tax-related filings.
· Build strong, long-term relationships with clients.
· Share ideas and contribute to the continued development of our assurance practice.
What We’re Looking For
· A Canadian CPA designation, ideally with approximately 1–3 years of post-designation experience.
· Public practice accounting experience.
· Experience with audit and/or review engagements.
· Solid knowledge of Canadian accounting and assurance standards.
· The ability to organize and manage multiple engagements and deadlines.
· Clear, practical written and verbal communication skills.
· Confidence working directly with clients.
· A team-oriented approach and a willingness to help others.
· Someone who is comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment and willing to take initiative.
Experience in the following would be an asset:
· Non-profit organizations and registered charities.
· Accounting standards and reporting requirements applicable to non-profit organizations.
· Owner-managed businesses, including year-end accounting and tax compliance.
· Corporate and personal tax.
· CaseWare and other common public-practice accounting software.
Why Work With Dart Bryant LLP?
We want people to enjoy the work they do and the people they do it with. We take client service and quality seriously, but we do not believe that requires an overly formal workplace.
· A friendly, team-focused environment.
· Direct access to partners and clients.
· Meaningful responsibility and the freedom to take ownership of your work.
· A voice in how we improve our processes and grow the practice.
· A variety of clients and engagements, with a significant focus on non-profit and charitable organizations.
· The opportunity to build broad public-practice experience rather than being limited to one narrow area.
· A practical, collaborative culture where individual contributions matter.
