The Role
As a Logistics & Warehouse Manager, you will be a hands-on leader, owning the process of day-to-day warehouse operations from beginning to end. You will train, mentor, and lead a team of Warehouse Associates and you are accountable for how material moves through the plant: how the warehouse is laid out, how inventory is controlled, how freight is booked, and how finished work reaches our clients on time and on budget. You will set the operating strategy for the warehouse and the KPIs.
This is an onsite role working Monday to Friday in our Calgary plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day warehouse and logistics operations for the facility, including shipping, receiving, inventory management and materials movement
- Develop and implement strategies for warehouse layout, inventory flow and logistics that meet production schedules and customer delivery commitments
- Establish and maintain KPIs for shipping performance, order accuracy, and inventory levels
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Warehouse Associates, ensuring to manage staffing levels to match fluctuating production volumes, while building a culture of accountability, collaboration and safety
- Oversee inventory control, including cycle counts, reconciliations and reporting
- Ensure materials are received, stored and delivered accurately and on time to keep press and finishing operations running
- Partner with production, procurement, planning and customer service to align warehouse operations with wider business goals
- Manage courier and 3rd party logistics relationships to secure cost-effective, reliable transportation, and review or negotiate freight contracts as needed
- Ensure shipping documentation is complete, accurate and compliant with applicable regulations
- Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 (ERP) to drive inventory and shipping accuracy
- Enforce health and safety regulations and company policies, oversee warehouse maintenance and housekeeping, and lead investigations and corrective actions following incidents or compliance breaches
Skills & Experiences
- Bachelor's degree in a Supply Chain Management or related field, paired with 5-8 years of experience in a logistics or warehouse management role
- Demonstrated team leadership skills, managing a warehouse staff, including supervisors and leads of up to 10 people at a given time
- Strong working knowledge of inventory control methods, freight coordination and warehouse safety best practices
- Effective communicator who collaborates well across cross-functional departments and teams
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize under shifting production demands
- Analytical and detail-oriented, with a continuous improvement mindset
- Proficient with ERP systems and warehouse management tools
- Comfortable working in a production environment with exposure to noise, machinery and temperature variation
