Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead to support mission-critical and data center projects throughout North America. This role leads commissioning, startup, TAB verification, functional performance testing, and documentation for critical mechanical infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with owners, contractors, TAB agencies, and project teams to ensure systems are installed, tested, and operated in accordance with project requirements..
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate commissioning, startup, TAB verification, and functional performance testing activities for mission-critical mechanical systems including:
- Computer Room Air Handlers/Air Conditioners (CRAHs and CRACs)
- Chilled Water Systems
- Cooling Towers (Dry, and Wet or Adiabatic Coolers)
- Air or Water-Cooled Chillers
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Exhaust Fans
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Pumps, Hydronic Distribution Systems, and Associated Controls
- Create and review commissioning TAB scripts for the various L3-L4 of commissioning.
- Execute or witness Functional Performance Testing (FPT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and Level 3 through Level 5 commissioning activities
- Plan project-specific schedules for the commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Collect, compile, and deliver commissioning reports.
- Conduct reviews to verify compliance with project requirements and/or regulations.
- Review and evaluate Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) reports.
Qualifications
- NEBB or TABB Certifications highly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (or equivalent technical experience).
- 5-10 years of experience in commissioning, startup, TAB, or testing of HVAC and mechanical systems, preferably within data center, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or industrial facilities
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, HVAC general arrangements, 3D Navisworks models, and mechanical equipment schedules
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout North America (up to 75-100% depending on project requirements)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface directly with clients.
- Detail-oriented with strong technical writing and documentation skills and understanding of compliance requirements.
Preferred Experience
- Experience commissioning hyperscale or colocation data centers.
- Experience with Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5 commissioning activities.
- Experience executing Functional Performance Testing (FPT) and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Familiarity with ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, CSA, and industry commissioning best practices.
- Experience using Bluebeam, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office Suite.
